YOUR MISSION WILL BE TO
- Executes the technical strategy to design improved cohorts of germplasm that are aligned with Product Concept targets from initial crossing through the handoff to Product Development
- Forward-designs genomes to create products aligned to customer needs via smart deployment of discrete genomic targets from our global germplasm pool or other means of genomic manipulation
- Leads projects in collaboration with partner teams across Crop Science (regional Plant Health teams, Genome Design, Biotechnology) to accelerate discovery and effective utilization of new genomic targets associated with key traits
- Identifies key areas of opportunity for new technology implementation and/or process improvement, while positively contributing to a collaborative, innovative, and design-centric culture
- Collaborates on projects/initiatives with partner teams and across world regions (NA, LATAM, EMEA, APAC) to guide development and implementation of Precision Breeding
- Supports the Health Safety & Environment, Compliance, Business Conduct and Human Rights policies and culture
ARE YOU READY FOR THE POSITION?
- PhD degree in Genomics, Biology, Genetics, Plant Science, Molecular Biology, Evolution, or other relevant scientific field with relevant experience or MS degree with strong demonstrated track record using genomics to enable product discovery or development
- Strong understanding of the genomic control of physiological and biochemical pathways in plants or animals and demonstrated experience defining genome/trait associations in at least 2 of the following areas: i) execution and interpretation of GWAS, ii) QTL analysis, iii) fine mapping and colocalization, iv) candidate gene analysis, v) gene expression analysis, vi) molecular marker development
- Experienced in analysis of large biological datasets, as well as coding experience in C, Fortran, R, Python or similar software and languages
- Demonstrated ability to collect, analyze, and leverage complex biological datasets and translate them into testable hypotheses
- Experience with advanced computational and analytical tools in molecular biology, genetics, and biochemistry
- Demonstrated experience working collaboratively in cross-functional and cross-cultural teams to achieve common goals
- Demonstrated experience leading and influencing activities of cross-functional teams without direct reporting relationships
- Ability to lead and influence key stakeholders through challenges and opportunities; facilitates solutions
- Results orientation with demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects/priorities simultaneously
- Mandatory: Advanced English and Portuguese
- It's necessary to be close to one of the Breeding bases (Campinas, São Paulo, Uberlânia, Petrolina or Rolândia)
- Availability to go to base 1 or 2 times a week
- Availability for national and international travel (20% of the time)
