YOUR MISSION WILL BE TO
- Execute the technical strategy of designing globally inclusive and relevant experimentation to understand the existence or true nature of identified trait interactions that impact global Traited Product Design and Regional Product Development success;
- Seek strategies to increase the probability of success of step change products (including SSC), leveraging global trait and GDT interaction data earlier in the Traited Product Design and Forward designed genome strategies;
- Co-design regional traited product evaluation testing strategies (e.g., GxT trials) with Regional Product Development and Systems Teams to ensure adequate traited material is available, sourced, and tested in accordance with phase 3 timelines to new trait launch, per region;
- Lead projects in collaboration with partner teams across Crop Science (regional Plant Health teams, Genome Design, Biotechnology) to accelerate the discovery and effective utilization of new genomic targets associated with key traits;
- Identify key areas of opportunity for new technology implementation and or process improvement, while positively contributing to a collaborative, innovative, and design-centric culture;
- Collaborate on projects/initiatives with partner teams and across world regions (NA, LATAM, EMEA, APAC) to guide the development and implementation of Precision Breeding;
- Support the Health Safety & Environment, Compliance, Business Conduct, and Human Rights policies and culture.
ARE YOU READY FOR THE POSITION?
- PhD Master of Science degree with strong demonstrated track record using genomics to enable product discovery or development or Ph.D. degree in Genomics, Biology, Genetics, Plant Science, Molecular Biology, Evolution, other relevant scientific fields with relevant experience;
- Strong understanding of the genomic control of physiological and biochemical pathways in plants or animals and demonstrated experience defining genome and trait associations in at least 2 of the following areas:
- Execution and interpretation of GWAS;
- QTL analysis;
- Fine mapping and colocalization;
- Candidate gene analysis;
- Gene expression analysis;
- Molecular marker development.
- Experienced in analysis of large biological datasets, as well as coding experience in C, Fortran, R, Python or similar software and languages;
- Demonstrated ability to incorporate statistical models to inform how to collect, analyze, and leverage complex biological datasets and translate them into testable hypotheses;
- Experience with advanced computational and analytical tools in molecular biology, genetics, and biochemistry;
- Demonstrated experience working collaboratively in crossfunctional and cross-cultural teams to achieve common goals;
- Demonstrated experience leading and influencing activities of cross-functional teams without direct reporting relationships;
- Ability to lead and influence key stakeholders through challenges and opportunities; facilitates solutions;
- Results orientation with demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects/priorities simultaneously;
- Mandatory: Advanced English;
- If you are in Brazil, you need to be close to one of the Breeding bases (Campinas, São Paulo, Uberlânia, Petrolina or Rolândia);
- Availability to go to base 1 or 2 times a week;
- Availability for national and international travel (20% of the time).
